I Returned to This Brook Trout Creek 14 Months After Hurricane Helene | Part 1
Fourteen months after Hurricane Helene reshaped the North Carolina mountains, I returned to one of my favorite native brook trout streams for the very first time. I had no idea what to expect. Would the creek still hold wild native brook trout? How much had the storm changed this beautiful backcountry watershed? Join me on this two-night solo backpacking adventure as I hike deep into the mountains, navigate difficult creek crossings, and search for answers in a place forever changed by one of the most destructive storms to impact Western North Carolina. From a perfect backcountry campsite beneath a brilliant full moon to the anticipation of exploring water I hadn't seen since before the hurricane, this journey is about much more than catching fish—it's about rediscovering a place that means so much to me. Will the brook trout still be there? You'll have to come along and find out. 👍 If you enjoyed this adventure, please like the video and subscribe for more solo backpacking and fly fishing trips in the North Carolina mountains. Stay tuned for Part 2, where I'll continue exploring this remarkable creek and see what surprises await upstream. #flyfishing #brooktrout #backpacking #backcountrycamping #northcarolina #nativebrooktrout #soloflyfishing #hurricanehelene #appalachianmountains #catchandrelease Hi, I am Chris and welcome to my channel. North Carolina is my home. On my channel you will see backcountry camping and fly fishing across the mountains of North Carolina in the Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains. My passion is the adventure of chasing North Carolina native brook trout in the high elevations of the mountains as well as looking for streams holding wild brown and rainbow trout. In some of my adventures you will see me spending a few nights at small campgrounds or along a forestry road acting as home base so I can be mobile to scope out new water in my jeep. Come along with me on my adventures to see the beautiful North Carolina mountains, cool backcountry campsites, beautiful streams, stunning native brook trout, wild brown trout and wild rainbow trout. If you enjoy my adventures, please like, subscribe and drop me a comment. Thank you for watching. Get out to find your next backcountry campsite and riffles full of wild trout!
