A Fall Fly Fishing Adventure | 32 Miles Backcountry Camping | Smokies & Nantahala Wilderness
In October 2025, I set out on a four-night solo backcountry fly fishing trip deep into the mountains of western North Carolina. The journey began in the Great Smoky Mountains, where I spent two nights exploring remote streams and camping under cool autumn skies and a bright full moon. After hiking out, I headed south to the Nantahala National Forest for two more nights in the backcountry. The terrain was rugged, the water was clear, and the solitude was everything I was looking for. Over the course of four days and 32 miles, I chased wild rainbow trout and native North Carolina brook trout through some of the most beautiful and remote water in the region. Cool October air, quiet campsites, and moonlit nights made this trip one I won’t forget. Trips like this are what Solo Fly Fishing is all about — hiking deep into the backcountry, camping beside mountain streams, and chasing wild trout in places few people ever see. Thanks for coming along on the journey. #greatsmokymountains #solocamping #flyfishing #fishing #backcountryfishing #backcountryflying #backcountrycamping #asmr Hi, I am Chris and welcome to my channel. North Carolina is my home. On my channel you will see backcountry camping and fly fishing across the mountains of North Carolina in the Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains. My passion is the adventure of chasing North Carolina native brook trout in the high elevations of the mountains as well as looking for streams holding wild brown and rainbow trout. In some of my adventures you will see me spending a few nights at small campgrounds or along a forestry road acting as home base so I can be mobile to scope out new water in my jeep. Come along with me on my adventures to see the beautiful North Carolina mountains, cool backcountry campsites, beautiful streams, stunning native brook trout, wild brown trout and wild rainbow trout. If you enjoy my adventures, please like, subscribe and drop me a comment. Thank you for watching. Get out to find your next backcountry campsite and riffles full of wild trout!
