Tomber sans peur : la respiration explosive — Jacques Lecomte
🌿 Explosive breathing is a breath control and body relaxation technique that teaches you how to fall without injury, by embracing the ground rather than fighting it. In this episode of "I Was Born Three Times," Soraya Melter welcomes Jacques Lecomte, a practitioner and instructor in movement and survival methods, for a live demonstration. Soraya herself practices the exercises: learning to fall, letting go of fear, and rediscovering a dynamic connection with the ground. The core of the discussion: falling is not an accident to be avoided at all costs, but a skill to be mastered. Jacques Lecomte teaches you to always place your body on muscular parts (never on your elbow, a hard and vulnerable area), to exhale upon contact with the ground, and to let your hands slide rather than hold on. The starting position is a squat: from there, step out to one side, exhale, and let your pelvis guide the descent. The center of gravity shifts through the hips, not the arms. ✨ Jacques reminds us that fatal falls are the leading cause of accidental death in France, and that this method, originally developed for secret agents and fighter pilots, is profoundly gentle and respectful of the body. In psychiatry as in bodywork, he emphasizes that gently placing someone on the ground can be a powerful therapeutic gesture. Fear, however, is not something to be conquered: it is something to be soothed, negotiated, and integrated as a compass. Trying to abolish it completely would even be dangerous, because it is what allows us to assess risks and protect ourselves. Soraya, for her part, shares her experience during a workshop with explosive breathing: letting go of something inside, releasing her preconceived notions about what she was experiencing, and accessing another level of consciousness. An invitation to fully inhabit what is happening in the present moment, rather than getting lost in the fiction of "how it should have been." 🕒 Chapters 0:00 Explosive breathing and falling: why learn? 0:35 Crawling, suffering, breathing: the body that moves through 1:44 Letting go of the idea of our past experiences 2:52 Fear and Qigong: appease, not conquer 4:32 Always land on your muscles 5:36 Falls: the leading cause of death in France 6:08 The demonstration: pelvis, relaxation, ground 6:47 Squat exercise: falling on your right side 9:02 Standing, it's the same movement 11:23 The method of secret agents and fighter pilots 14:44 Is the fear still there?
