Soul Radio 121 Dec 1989 (Incl. Robbie Vincent Killer Cuts Part 1 - 23rd December '89)
Soul, Funk, Jazz-Funk, R&B, House and Hip-Hop records played on the radio by Robbie Vincent andJeff Young In December 1989, recorded on a high quality Sony UX 90 cassette tape. The tape starts off with some great House & Hip Hop tracks played by Jeff Young on his Big Beat show on the 20th December, then Robbie Vincent takes over with the Miles Jaye track, and the rest of the tape is from his Killer Cuts Part 1 show aired on 23rd December 1989. This tape has some really cracking tracks on it, including seven I give 5/ 5* on my iTunes. The first part includes some of the best House / R&B tracks from the year, including Janet Jackson with Heavy D, Tribal House, Todd Terry (Lifeline), Dionne and the amazing Deep House track by Mr. Fingers “What About This Love”. Then you get to over an hour from Robbie Vincent’s penultimate show on Radio 1 “Killer Cuts Part 1” aired on 23rd December 1989. Unfortunately as usual I deleted most of the RV voiceovers (🤔) although luckily I did leave a couple on this one. 🙂 I have also added a couple of jingles to enhance the experience a little. Robbie played some crackers (as usual) including Miles Jaye's “Heaven”, El DeBarge's “Broken Dreams”, Johnny Bristol's “Man Up In The Sky”, L.R. Superstars' “I Just Can’t Say It”, Joe Sample's “U Turn”, Maze Featuring Frankie Beverley's “ Silky Soul” and Chuck Jackson's “All Over The World amongst others. As usual with a Killer Cuts show it’s one cracker after another. This is only the first hour or so of the show, it continues on my next tape. Enjoy! 🎧🎺🎷🎹📻🎵🎶🎧 Tracks: 00:00 Alright (Feat Heavy D) - Janet Jackson 04:16 Motherland A-Fri-Ca - Tribal House 09:25 Nothing Has Been Proved - The Strings Of Love 12:54 What About This Love - Mr. Fingers 18:00 Cause You're Right On Time (Old School Mix) - Limelife 20:27 Put Your Hands Together - D-Mob 23:31 Your Lies - Dionne 27:27 The Badman Is Robbin' - Hijack 30:20 Robbie Vincent's Killer Cuts Part 1 (23-12-1989) 30:21 Heaven - Miles Jaye 33:15 Turned Away - Chuckii Booker 37:34 Broken Dreams - El Debarge 40:33 I'll Wait - Will Downing 43:59 Man Up In The Sky - Johnny Bristol 46:17 State Of Attraction - Rhonda Clark 49:44 Sugar Fly - Geoffrey Williams 52:42 Let Me Love You - Pokey Cold 57:19 I Just Can't Say It - L.R. This was proven to be false, it didn't. In my experience, taping only led me to buy more and more records and tapes, and I'm still buying them now on CDs & downloads.
