Canço del Lladre (arr. Miguel Llobet); Torres guitar modification with tornavoz
This is about the modification of a Juan Hernandez guitar, model “Torres”. I experimented with this guitar: I removed the original varnish of the top and applied a shellac French polish. An experienced friend and colleague slimmed down the bracing of the top a bit to hopefully achieve better resonance and dynamics. Inspired by the work of Tate Harmann ( • Removable Tornavoz Experiment No. 01 ) I built a removable tornavoz made of 0.3 mm brass. The guitar is tuned to 415 Hz. This resulted in a very softly playable instrument with a pleasant timbre, low basses and a strong register.
