Muttseehütte Hike | Limmernsee | Switzerland

#muttseehutte #limmernsee #switzerland Exploring a remote part of the Swiss Alps. A 12km circuit hike with a fantasy like landscape took our breath away! We took the cable car (self operated) till the Kalktrittli Bergstation. Enter through a few tunnel doors until you get on the actual hiking trail. This is a steep ascent through the edge of the mountains but oh boy, what vistas! After climbing about 6KM, we reached Muttsee Hut and there was no one present. Since we had booked in advance, we had the passkey and other necessary details for self check-in and to use the hut facilities including the kitchen. The hut cabin was super cute and cozy. Next morning we took a stroll around Muttsee lake. After breakfast we checked-out and took the Limmernsee-Tunnel route to get down. This route offered another spectacular views of the Limmernsee lake and mountains around it. This was again a super steep descent of about 3KM after which you will reach the Limmernsee lake and dam. From here you take the tunnel and walk 3 more KM until you reach the cable car. This tunnel is made for the dam maintenance but is open for hikers to use :) The temperature inside the tunnel was super cold (2C) we took 30 min to walk 3KM. What an experience!
