Paseando por CONSUEGRA y sus molinos

Hello, I'm Marina! Join me on this 4k walk through 📍 Consuegra This video was recorded in June 2023. On today's tour we will tour the streets and mills of Consuegra, a municipality of Toledo in Castilla – La Mancha. Curiosities: Its name derives from the ancient pre-Roman city of Consabura, which meant "the confluence of the Sabo River", said river is the current Amarguillo. Cerro Calderico, the first settlement of the Consaburenses, had great importance since prehistoric transhumance. This hill is known because it houses 12 traditional windmills (previously there were 13) declared Assets of Cultural Interest, built in the 17th century. Each one has its own names related to La Mancha themes and to Don Quixote of La Mancha, a famous work by the writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. These mills were used to grind wheat and make flour. It also has a unique castle that is more than 800 years old and has a lot of history, El Castillo de la Muela. The Consuegra dam is the longest of the Roman Empire in the country, measuring more than 600 meters long. Its museum has unique pieces such as an ancient pre-Roman ritual chalice, a collection of medieval footwear and a Roman amphora unique in the world.
