【理系で辛い人あつまれ】研究が辛くなっちゃった話【東工大院生】

Is your research going well? Are you working in the right direction? Are you enjoying your research? Most science research doesn't have a direct connection to society, doesn't allow for the flexibility of a humanities-based lifestyle, and doesn't seem to be as readily recognized by society or the public as sports, arts, or social activities. ...That's why I feel like it's pointless unless I acquire techniques and skills to be successful in the future or produce impactful research results. I hope you don't end up like me, where my research topic is not only difficult but I'm even starting to lose faith in its meaning. While I want to work hard at my research, when that happens, it's very painful. In particular, I feel especially embarrassed that, even before I even consider the specific content of my research, I'm causing trouble for others, even though I'm a master's student. I can't properly understand what my professor is saying, I'm inferior to the other research students in terms of knowledge and thinking ability, and no matter how hard I try, objectively and logically, it's a zero. Despite enrolling with great enthusiasm, I'm worried that I might be seen as worse than others, or as someone who doesn't belong here, and I don't think I'll be able to carry out research that will save me in this state. I had hoped to be treated as an equal and join the elite group in the best environment at a great university with excellent professors and researchers, but I was a little too optimistic. I'm sorry...
