Master the Neutral Grip Curl for Bigger Biceps and Forearms | Time Under Tension Technique

We’re kicking things off with hammer curls. This is one of my staple exercises because it engages not only your biceps but also your forearm muscles—the brachialis and brachioradialis. It’s crucial to hit all the muscles underneath the bicep to stimulate growth, build strength, and create change in those areas. That’s why hammer curls are always in my routine. Remember: We’re not just lifting for the sake of lifting; we’re working strategically. This is where real muscle activation happens. 💪 Experience SteeleFit Training for FREE! Neutral Grip Curl Technique Tips: – Start by getting the dumbbells in your hands, palms facing each other, and elbows stationary. – Focus on tightening your muscles before you even start the movement—engage the biceps and forearms. – Keep your elbows at your sides throughout the curl, controlling the weight all the way through the movement. – The goal is to maintain strict form. Elbows shouldn’t move forward or backward. – You’re not letting the weight control you, you’re controlling it. Make Every Rep Count 1. Tighten (Initiate): Pre-engage your biceps before initiating the movement. This is your foundation for muscle activation. 2. Lift (Concentric Phase): Lift the dumbbells, squeezing the biceps hard. Keep your elbows stationary and don’t let the weight control the movement. Focus on full muscle contraction. 3. Peak Contraction: At the top, squeeze your biceps hard and hold it for a second. This is where you maximize muscle engagement. Don’t just hold—squeeze! 4. Lower (Eccentric Phase): Slowly lower the dumbbells back down, fighting gravity. Control the descent to maintain muscle tension the entire time. Mistakes to Avoid: – Elbow Movement: Keep your elbows stationary. If they drift forward or backward, you’re not fully isolating the biceps and forearms. – Momentum: Don’t use your shoulders to help with the lift. Keep the movement slow and controlled. Focus on muscle engagement, not just getting the weight up. – Incomplete Range of Motion: Don’t cut the movement short. Extend fully at the bottom and squeeze hard at the top to maximize the contraction. Push Your Progress: – As you progress, don’t be afraid to increase the weight. – If you can get through the full set without dropping the weight, it’s time to bump up the challenge. – You can also add isometric holds at the top to increase engagement and push those muscles to failure. – Focus on maximizing the contraction with every rep. Breaking Down the Burn: This is where it starts to get real. When the burn hits, that’s when you know you’re making progress. As your arms start to fatigue, the key is to keep pushing through the burn and stay in control. Fight through the eccentric phase, keep that mind-muscle connection strong, and make every second count.
