The History Hat - Freemason's House of the Temple
Peak inside the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry's House of the Temple located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The monumental structure, designed by architect John Russell Pope, is designed to resemble one of the seven ancient wonders of the world: the Tomb of Mausolus or the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, which is located in modern-day Bodrum, Turkey. We take a look at the most notable rooms within and sift through some of the many treasures and portraits as well, including memorabilia from former U.S. presidents, astronauts, artists, and authors. One object in the collection even made it to the moon and back!
