The Mystery of the United States Capitol Building (Oldest Images 1846-1880) Old World Washington, DC
Howdy. To celebrate 130,000 subscribers I took a road trip to Washington, D.C., in hopes of photographing as much Old World style architecture as possible. To begin, I’d like to discuss the original Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., conceived the whole way back in 1791, but not fully constructed until roughly 1826. The construction project included numerous master architects, alterations to the plan, and the burning of the city which occurred in 1814 (as an act of The War of 1812). We will focus on the Corinthian Columns of the Original Capitol Building, as well as the original dome, which along with much of the structure appeared to be intricately designed to mimic The Old World. Again, this all adds fuel to our fire, and I’ve also included the oldest known photographs of the Capitol Building within this video, dated from 1846 through roughly 1880. Furthermore, we will address theories regarding the indigenous people of The District of Columbia, mainly the Susquehannock, and dive deeper into the more hidden aspects of the current narrative regarding the history of the Capitol Building. Enjoy!
