We were already in Puno so went by bus to Uyuni, that's the cheapest way. This fare may vary depending on the season. Tips: There's no phone reception at the salt flats and at the national reserve. There's a good chance that you won't be able to communicate by phone for 3 days. Call home and let them know every time you leave the hotel and start the tour Bring comfy and warm clothes. Bring waterproof sneakers. There are areas at the salt flats that has lots of salty water and we don't want your shoes to get ruined, but if you don't have special shoes, you can cover your shoes with plastic bags or use flip flops and try to handle the cold. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses (it's really windy and you could get salt in your eyes) and lip balm. Bring water and snacks. Stores inside the reserve are expensive. Bring pills for altitude sickness. Change your money in the exchange offices of the La Paz bus terminal. Bring an external battery charger. You'll be on tour all day and in some places, the electricity is limited. Bring a book for the ride. You'll be on the bus for a long time.
