👉 The Argentine delegation, comprised of 30 volunteer firefighters from the Buenos Aires Volunteer Firefighters Federation, is in La Guaira, Venezuela, one of the areas hardest hit by a recent disaster. General Commander Fernando Alessio, leader of the ART13 team and with over 42 years of experience as a volunteer firefighter, described how the deployment and coordination of the Argentine contingent was arranged through the Federal Emergency Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Alessio explained that international teams accredited under INSARAC standards work strategically to maximize the chances of rescuing people alive. "The first 36 hours are crucial for finding survivors," the commander noted. However, he emphasized that even after the initial protocol period, they continue to find people alive thanks to local information and the specialized use of technical equipment. The work is being carried out in coordination with Venezuelan authorities and other international teams. Argentine rescuers were assigned to the Southern Sector in La Guaira, where they have been working intensive shifts, exceeding 12 hours a day. Despite their efforts, they have unfortunately found some deceased victims, but they have also carried out successful rescues.
