🇹🇼 Taiwan Day 4 | Shifen Old Street & The "Little Niagara" Shifen Waterfall

A magical, misty day in the mountains! ☁️ Day 4 begins at Taipei Main Station as I navigate the train system to reach the historic town of Shifen. Despite the light drizzle, the atmosphere was incredible. This walking tour takes you through the heart of the Pingxi Line, where history and nature collide. What to expect in this vlog: Shifen Old Street: This is a unique market area where the train tracks run right through the middle of the village! It is famous for the Sky Lanterns, where you can write your wishes and release them into the sky from the tracks. Local Eats: I couldn't resist trying the famous Taiwan Sausage—juicy, slightly sweet, and perfectly grilled. You'll also find plenty of "Stinky Tofu" and bubble tea stalls lining the tracks. The Walk to the Falls: From the Old Street, it is a scenic 15-20 minute walk (approximately 1 to 1.5 km) to reach the waterfall park. The path is well-paved and takes you over suspension bridges with great river views. Shifen Waterfall: Often called the "Little Niagara of Taiwan," this is a 20-meter tall curtain-style waterfall. Because of the drizzle, the water flow was powerful and the mist was breathtaking. There are multiple viewing platforms offering different angles of the falls. Traveler Tip: To get here, take a northbound train from Taipei Main Station to Ruifang, then transfer to the colorful Pingxi Branch Line toward Shifen.
