Datuk Paul Kiong

Datuk Paul Kiong born 24 October 1944 in Ipoh, Perak is a decorated veteran of the Royal Malaysia Police, best known for his fearless undercover work during the communist insurgency, where he captured 43 insurgents alive without firing a single shot. His 31-year career in the Special Branch earned him Malaysia’s highest gallantry award, the Seri Pahlawan Gagah Perkasa (SP), and lasting recognition as one of the nation’s unsung heroes. He is best remembered for his remarkable courage and strategic brilliance in conducting high-stakes undercover missions, often risking his life to safeguard the nation’s peace and sovereignty. Datuk Paul possessed a unique ability to infiltrate insurgent ranks and gather critical intelligence, frequently capturing insurgents through negotiation and trust rather than violence.
