【廃線紀行】兵庫県・国鉄高砂線を訪ねて!加古川駅〜高砂港駅【1984年廃止から40年】

"Abandoned railway line"... a term that evokes melancholy and loneliness even among railway enthusiasts, but it's supposed to be a noble way to enjoy railways, one that allows you to reminisce about the bustling stations and lines that once lined the vestiges of the railway that still remain...lol. So this time, I visited the abandoned JNR Takasago Line, which connected Kakogawa City and Takasago City. It's called "JNR" because the Takasago Line was abolished on December 1, 1984, prior to the privatization of JNR in April 1987. The Takasago Line, like the Kakogawa Line, Hojo Line, Miki Line, and Kajiya Line, was opened by the former Banshu Railway. The Banshu Railway lines were built to replace boat transport on the Kakogawa River, and the Takasago Line was built in 1913 (Taisho 2) to connect Takasago, a goods collection point, with the Banshu Railway lines. Due to this background, the line mainly carried freight rather than passengers, and its terminal station, Takasago Port Station, was a freight-only station. Then, with the enactment of the National Railways Reconstruction Act, it was designated a specific local transportation line, and was converted to a bus line and abolished even before the privatization of the national railway. Forty years have passed since its abolition, and traces of the Takasago Line are gradually disappearing. The line's former site has been converted into residential areas and roads, and no station buildings remain. However, small traces remain in various places that indicate that a railway line once existed here. The owner doesn't know what the Takasago Line was like back then, but by tracing the entire line this time, he was able to get a feel for the atmosphere of when trains once ran here, carrying passengers. It's fun to reminisce about the past in this way. I encourage everyone to try and experience the atmosphere of the Takasago Line.
