This is the third installment of the series on walking around Himeji while looking at an old map of Himeji published in 1930, the area west of the station. This time, we will explore the area west of Otemae-dori, which did not exist in 1930. From Nishinikaimachi to the outer moat, we will stop by Senba Hontoku-ji Temple, go to Otokoyama, go to Yatsushiro, go to Nagoyama, and from the Mitsubishi Electric factory, we will take a mini abandoned railway journey. This is the last installment of the 1930 map series, but this time too is a series of new discoveries, and it is truly a treasure trove of trivia! I have continued this series for three times, and it took a lot of time to prepare and edit. Personally, I enjoy researching something, but it seems to expand more and more, or I get deeper and deeper... Each time, I start with the intention of finishing it more easily, but in the end, every installment was a series of struggles. Also, later on, I find various documents about things that I didn't know or notice at the time. I often think, "Oh, if only I'd known then, if only I'd known then." Even if I realize something after I've published the video, I can't fix it or add to it, so it's very frustrating, but on the other hand, I get excited by myself, like, "Oh, that time!" I'm sure I look suspicious if I was watching from the side lol. We are so used to the scenery we see every day in our hometown, but if we dig a little, we find more and more things we didn't know. Why is that company here, why is there a shopping street here? Even familiar, everyday scenery looks a little different when we know its history. It was difficult this time, but I was able to enjoy that kind of fun. I would like to take an old map and walk around the city again on another occasion.
