(May 4th (Day 1)) Since the entire journey was on local roads, there were no highway tolls, and the charging cost was an astonishing "1,622 yen"!? However, upon arriving at the secluded hot spring "Fujishichi Onsen" in Iwate Prefecture, blocked by snow walls and shrouded in rain and thick fog, the electrician couple were struck by an unexpected blind spot that would shock any EV owner: "Completely silent digital key (no signal trouble)"... We've packed this video with practical EV information, including a check of radar tracking behavior in rain and darkness, and a report on the 150kW fast charger we discovered for the first time at a 7-Eleven in Niigata (Hasunō Interchange store). Along the way, we encountered a series of mishaps, including the navigation system suddenly speaking informally to us, and we steadily made our way north, refueling with delicious, extra-large "bomb rice balls" made by my wife. We charged at a Lawson convenience store in Akita Daisen using 90kW charging before heading to our first destination, the high-altitude hot spring resort, Fujishichi Onsen. However, disaster struck after we reached the top of a mountain road shrouded in drizzle and sudden thick fog. The parking lot at Fujishichi Onsen was completely out of range! Our convenient "digital key," which connects to our smartphones, couldn't communicate at all, leaving us completely silent! Fortunately, we had our physical key (smart key) with us, so we avoided any major problems, but we experienced firsthand the "blind spot" of driving an EV to remote hot springs or deep in the mountains where there's no cell phone reception. It was truly chilling. Towards the end of our trip, just before checking into our hotel in Hachinohe, we scrambled to Lexus and BMW dealerships in search of 150kW charging.
