No 34 Living the Dream in Strathaven 2018 - Part 3 (Avondale Community Wing)

In Part 3 of: “Living the Dream in Strathaven 2018,” I thought I’d take you with me as I attend the official opening of the brand new ‘Avondale Community Wing,’ on Friday 15th June 2018. The Avondale Community Wing is one of South Lanarkshire Councils integrated community facilities and replaces the old Ballgreen Hall on Glasgow Road. Why is it called an: ‘Integrated Community Facility?’ Very simple: it is joined onto Saint Patrick’s Primary School, where part of the community wing (mainly the large sports hall) is secured and closed off for the sole use of the school during the school-day and then as the school closes around 3PM; the secured part of the community wing is handed over to SLC Leisure & Culture to be run as a community facility; for the use of anyone wishing to book and use it. This offers great flexibility and provides much better value for money to the tax payer because after all: it’s such a waste having a multi-million-pound school doing nothing at night and during the holidays. So, come with me, as join attend the formal and official opening of the Avondale Community Wing on Friday 15th June 2018 as continue to live the dream in Strathaven in 2018.
