Rio Lagartos y Las Coloradas, Yucatán

Pink Flamingo and Wildlife Observation Boat Tour of the Lagartos River A great tour for the whole family. The road is very safe and in very good condition. I recommend arriving in Mérida, which is cheaper and allows you to visit different tourist spots and return to Mérida for the night. We rented a car and slept in Izamal, the Yellow City. We went to Chichen Itzá and slept in Valladolid. The next day we headed to Río Lagartos, where we hired a boat that took us to Las Coloradas and the ecological reserve to see pink flamingos. The private tour cost us $1,500. Unfortunately, we were hit by a very strong storm that prevented us from enjoying all the natural beauty. However, we did have a chance to marvel at the flamingos, crocodiles, and other species. The downside is that with the heavy rain, we weren't able to appreciate the pink color of Las Coloradas. To avoid these situations, I recommend going during the months of April, May, and June. It doesn't rain and the heat shouldn't be as intense. Here's the link to the location where you can hire a boat: https://maps.app.goo.gl/E2ktrALKgWBk7... Afterward, you can eat and have a few beers at the restaurants on the boardwalk. They also have hotels if you want to spend the night.
