Progreso, Mexico: The Best Things to See in a Day (or Two)

Discover Progreso, México — a small Yucatecan beach town with way more to offer than most visitors ever realize. In this video, I explore everything you can see on a short visit… from the world’s longest pier stretching 8 km into the Gulf of Mexico, to the Malecón Tradicional and Malecón Internacional, to colorful side streets, local markets, neighborhood parks, seaside cafés, and even the Museum of the Meteorite, which tells the story of the impact that changed the world. I also wander into the non-touristy side of Progreso, where daily life moves at its own pace and travelers can get a real sense of the town behind the postcards. If you’ve only passed through on a cruise day — or never thought to spend the night — you might be surprised at just how much is here. I’d actually recommend spending a couple of days to enjoy the beach, food, and laid-back Yucatecan atmosphere without rushing. Whether you’re planning a short trip from Mérida or a relaxed seaside escape, this video will show you why Progreso deserves more time on your itinerary. Music provided by Epidemic Sound. I am a couple of years into full-time travel. I choose destinations that are located all around the world and show what those places are like from my perspective. I subscribe to the slow travel method and I make all of these journeys by myself. Solo travel can be extremely liberating. I invite you to see the places that I have been. That might give you ideas about where you would like to travel and possibly, areas that you want to avoid. If you are content staying at home, this channel will serve to provide you with a window onto the world. Either way, you will see some amazing sights, every time you click play!
