In a room at La Paz Hospital in Madrid, Francisco Franco's only son-in-law, the Marquis of Villaverde, snapped a photo of the dictator on the verge of death, surrounded by machines, electrodes, and tubes. These photos shattered the all-powerful aura of the General who plunged Spain into a 40-year dictatorship. This documentary investigates the history of these photos and reveals new details about their journey from the hospital room to the cover of a magazine nine years later. A publication that, to this day, remains controversial and which, at the time, precipitated the closure of the magazine.
