Exercises to Release the Psoas and Improve Pelvic and Core Function

The psoas muscles play a powerful role in how we move, stabilize, and feel in our bodies. They connect your inner thighs to your spine, making them essential for leg swing, spinal alignment, and core integrity. But modern lifestyles – lots of sitting, stress, and bracing can lead to shortened, tense psoas muscles. When your psoas is tight, you might notice: – Anterior pelvic tilt – Rib thrusting – Low back discomfort – A constant urge to stretch, but never quite feeling relief In this video, I walk you through four exercises that bring awareness, mobility, and release to the psoas: A leg swing to create dynamic release A strengthening movement for pelvic alignment A lengthening posture using a split stance A side-lying release to address tension and holding Each exercise is designed to gently explore and support your psoas without forcing or over-recruiting. And just as important as movement is rest – so we’ll talk about how to integrate what you’ve done and allow your nervous system to settle. The psoas is also sensitive to stress.
