Fix Shoulder Hunching/Tightness | Neck & Shoulder Pain Relief | Pelvic Floor Friendly Exercises
If your neck and shoulders are always tight, add this to your routine. Neck and shoulder tightness can stem from unconditioned muscles that are always in the same position, movement habit / posture and lifestyle. One of the things that we do constantly is having our hands and arms in front of our body. We do very little behind our body with our hands. So our shoulders can become rounded and hunched as well as our upper back becoming tighter and more restricted. Our neck then takes a hit because the rounding and hunching of the shoulders and upper back pushes the neck out of positioning. Hello neck pain! This exercise is fantastic because it helps to really reduce upper back and shoulder hunching and rounding and decreases the strain on your neck. It’s strength and mobility. (For anyone with pelvic floor issues- this one is fantastic for all the same reasons + it decreases pressure on the pelvic floor by creating more space and opening in the upper body.) Also fantastic for new parents! postpartum workout for the win. I can feel it instantly when I do this one! Every person has a different range of motion, so if bringing your arms back behind you is super hard at first, just work within a range that is appropriate for you. Definitely do not push out of range. If you can barely get your hands behind you and you have a ton of neck and shoulder pain as you try, then it’s also indicative of the area you really could focus on. 1. Side to side “swishing” - no shoulder hunching 2. Squeeze your lower shoulder blades / release / chest circles / shoulder circles / up and down 3. “Pull” hands in - this might feel amazing! 8-10 reps each… 💜 Enjoy. Share. Comment.
