A dance and a great laughter stir the silence, until a single seam of gold breaks from the rock. The cave opens, and radiance floods the waking world, light returning to the mountains and the sea. The gods drew her out with the sacred mirror (Yata-no-Kagami) and a string of curved jewels (magatama) hung upon a sakaki tree, and the dance of Ame-no-Uzume — the mirror and jewels being two of Japan's Three Sacred Treasures. Recorded in the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki.
