The hunter-prince Hoori (Yamasachihiko) descended to the undersea palace, where they married and lived for three years. When she came to the shore to bear their child, she withdrew into a birth-hut and asked her husband not to watch, for in childbirth she would return to her true form — a vast wani (sea-dragon) eight fathoms long. He looked; ashamed to have been seen, she left the newborn upon the shore and returned to the sea, sealing the path between their worlds forever. Their child was raised by her sister Tamayori-hime and became the father of Emperor Jimmu.
