Burning Palms Beach The Figure 8 Pools and a challenging hike.

Embark on an unforgettable coastal adventure to Burning Palms Beach and the iconic Figure 8 Pools in Royal National Park. This challenging trek descends steep cliffs through lush bushland, rewarding hikers with pristine golden sands and crystal-clear rock pools. The Figure 8 Pools, nature's infinity pools carved into the sandstone shelf, are a photographer's dream—but timing is crucial. Only accessible at low tide, these natural wonders require careful planning and respect for ocean conditions. The return climb tests your endurance, but the breathtaking views and unique geological formations make every step worthwhile. Always check tides and weather before attempting this bucket-list hike. The Royal National Park is full of great hikes and walks but this the best one we have walked so far. Beaches, cliffs, spectacular viewpoints, rock faces, and crashing waves and surf. With a bit of danger thrown in! If you follow in our footsteps please ensure you allow enough time to return from the Figure 8 pools. You do NOT want to be caught on the rock platforms if the waves are high or the tide is wrong. Check the notice board before you start or look at the National Parks and Wildlife website. You can walk just to Burning Palms beach if you prefer. It's a great hike on it's own. And head over to Garie Beach instead of the Figure 8 Pools. Either way you will have a great adventure and a wonderful hike. Take plenty of water, and some food. Take care and enjoy! 1 July 2026
