THE HETTON LEGACY - THE RAILWAY, COLLIERIES AND COMMUNITY 1822 - 2022
2022 saw the wider community of Hetton le Hole in north east England celebrate George Stephenson's first purpose built steam powered railway. A landmark bicentenary, not only in the history of railways, but also in the wider story of north east coal mining, unionisation and community. This documentary film, commissioned by the Hetton Colliery Railway 200 Charity and produced by Lonely Tower Film & Media, tells the story of what happened 200 years ago, how that was celebrated then and now, and of how a resilient community is using its proud past as a force for good. http://www.hcr200.org/
