I went to Iwai Onsen in Tottori Prefecture, which has an old-fashioned atmosphere. The food was very delicious, the staff was warm, and the ryokan was really nice. The plan we used was the most basic plan, but there was also a plan with an all-inclusive package and a kaiseki plan featuring seasonal ingredients such as crab, oysters, and squid. It is a 20-minute drive from the Tottori Sand Dunes, and a 15-minute drive will take you to the coast of Iwami Town, famous for its beautiful sea. Access by train Take the “Limited Express Super Hakuto” starting from Kyoto for about 3 hours to Tottori Station. From Tottori Station, take the JR Sanin Line to Iwami Station (approx. 20 minutes). From JR Iwami Station, take a 10-minute bus bound for Iwai Onsen, and get off at Iwai Onsen Bus Stop. Or, take a cab from JR Iwami Station (approx. 7 min.).
