Through the train window, I passed through the famous “Maple Tunnel,” forested valleys, and finally arrived at Kurama Station, embraced by the surrounding hills. The wooden station building retains its nostalgic Showa charm, and a towering Tengu statue welcomes visitors at the entrance. Beyond the mountain path lies Kurama Temple, home to legends of a mystical being said to have come from Venus. It felt as though this quiet terminus marked the entrance to a forgotten world where time stood still.
