Northern Vietnam can be explored in many different ways. We chose one of the most atmospheric ones – by scooter. Leaving the busy streets of Hanoi, we head towards the Gulf of Tonkin, where the famous Ha Long Bay opens among limestone cliffs. A landscape of boats, floating villages, fishermen and karst towers rising from the sea is one of the most iconic images of Vietnam. Our journey continues to the Hoa Lu and Trang An area, where mountains, pagodas, temples and waterways connect ancient history with the spiritual life of present-day Vietnam. From rocky temples and peaceful lakes, we travel further into the greener and more remote landscape of Pu Luong. Here, Northern Vietnam reveals another face – mountain villages, rice fields, local markets, Hieu Waterfall and the everyday life of people who have lived in this landscape for generations. A travel documentary about a scooter journey through Northern Vietnam, its culture, landscapes, history and places where the energy of Southeast Asia gives way to the silence of mountains, water and rice fields.
