We embark on a captivating journey to the remote reaches of northern India, where the mystical Ladakh stretches. This exciting narrative takes us from the lofty heights of the Himalayas to the depths of the human hearts that inhabit this land. Our story explores the heritage of Ladakh, including the palace of Leh, which stands as the city's eternal guardian, and the monasteries of Shey and Thiksey, which are important centers of spiritual life. The journey then continues to Tso Kar Lake, where we get a glimpse into the lives of Tibetan refugees and their communities, taking us to the diversity of life in the area, from the kiang, the wild donkeys that roam the plains of Ladakh, to the peaceful life of monasteries like Thuksey Monastery. We also get to the remote Hanle region on the border with Tibet, where we have a glimpse into the lives of the local people and observe the fascinating dark skies, ideal for astronomical purposes. We will not miss one of the highest active monasteries, Hanle, where Drukpa Kagyu Buddhism is practiced.
