Death by Chocolate Poke Cake (recipe using a cake mix)

Other recipes that start off as a cake mix! :    • Recipes Using Cake Mixes   These are over-the-top chocolatey! Layer 1 Cake layer: One box of chocolate cake mix 1/2 cup water 1/3 oil plus 2 tbsp 1 cup sour cream 4 egg whites 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix Blend this together and pour it into a greased 9x13" baking dish (I lined mine with greased parchment) , bake at 350 F until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. When it comes out of the oven, poke some holes in the top of the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon. Allow to cool completely. Layer 2 Ganache Topping: 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 can sweetened condensed milk. Melt the chocolate chips and then stir in the sweetened condensed milk. Pour this over the baked cake and put this into the fridge to allow the topping to set up a bit and is completely cool. (It won't set completely, it will become thicker) Layer 3 Frosting: 2 1/2 cups Icing sugar 1 cup butter, room temperature 2 tsp vanilla extract pinch of salt Milk or cream (1-2 tbsp depending on how you like the texture) 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips Cream sugar and butter together until smooth. Blend in the cocoa powder Add in the vanilla extract salt and salt and then enough milk or cream to get a fluffy spreadable frosting texture. Don't skimp on the beating, it will get nice an fluffy after a few minutes. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread this over the cake/ganache layers. Additional chocolate chips or chocolate candies for decoration if desired. Idea for recipe found in a Taste of Home magazine.
