Hauptsache bunt und schön – eine alte Villa wie im Märchen | ARD Room Tour
In Bad Marienberg in the Westerwald, there is an old house that its owner Tina Hüsch lovingly calls "Villa Kunterbunt". The writer with a flaming red mane lives out her warmth of heart and desire for love here and surrounds herself with everything she likes. The main thing is that it is colorful and beautiful - just like in a fairy tale. For Tina, objects or furniture have a life of their own. And when she is excited about special pieces, she has to have them and they become part of her home. They are things that have touched her heart. She often finds them in Holland, where she likes to spend her vacations by the sea. When she returns, candlesticks trimmed to look old or colorfully embroidered carpets embellish her realm. She likes to stroll through flea markets or visit junk stores. Then there is no stopping her when she is touched by a piece of furniture inside. Since in her world things have a life of their own, she feels how the pieces appeal to her. She then wants to give them a home with her in her old villa and, as she says, live with the furniture. Expensive is not her thing, many things she works up with the help of friends or lives out her creativity on it. Good and cheap are chalk paints, which she uses DIY-style to paint the furniture. Chalk paint is good for everything, in her opinion, and even stair treads are painted with it. True to the motto "When was the last time you did something for the first time?" Tina persuades craftsmen and friends to do unusual conversions. And be it the trash can crate that has the silhouette of a city on the top edge as a decoration. For Tina, the world has to be colorful and full of feeling. A business administration graduate whose day job involves stock valuations, she writes poetry and books that revolve around the happiness of the soul. She gives readings and donates the proceeds to charitable organizations. She enjoys writing in her light-filled conservatory amid many photos of her father, who has already passed away. Perhaps he was the only person who really understood Tina completely, she says of him. He often said, "Tina, you're like a magic bag, full of surprises." That's why Tina Hüsch calls herself a wonder bag poet. In addition to writing, the Westerwald native has also discovered her love of photography and has her pictures taken in "lost places." Tina's old villa was built around 1900 and housed the police station including a police officer's official residence. There was even a cell in the basement where many a drunkard sobered up. When Tina saw the house, the windows had black borders and she immediately felt: I must have the house, it needs love. So began a steady transformation of the house 17 years ago, which is now nearly complete. "It's already quite crowded," Tina openly admits, "now only very special things can come to me." Colorful, kitschy and unusual - just like in a fairy tale. The main thing is that Tina's heart is happy.
