Bunt & inspirierend: Künstlerin verwandelt alte Villa in ihr Traumhaus | ARD Room Tour

Artist Viola has transformed an old villa into her dream home. She has fulfilled a lifelong dream by buying and converting the old Art Nouveau villa dating from 1911. With lots of creative ideas, she has transformed the old vicarage in Pforzheim into a colorful and inspiring work of art. Viola's childhood in the Mediterranean has left its mark on her. The artist from Pforzheim grew up in a small coastal town near Barcelona. She inhaled the sea, the colors, the Spanish art. When she discovered the old rectory in Pforzheim online in 2017, her heart stopped, Viola explains. A three-storey Art Nouveau villa with a hipped mansard roof dating from 1911, she had long dreamed of living and working under one roof. Now this dream could finally come true. When she visits the old vicarage, she knows this is where she wants to live. The smell is not musty, but rather warm and woody. The old sandstone staircase in the entrance area and the high ceilings immediately appealed to her. She was also born in Pforzheim. Even though she didn't grow up here, she has many fond memories of the city from visits to her grandmother. She bought the villa for 670,000 euros and began renovating it. Viola's house is one of the old villas in the city that was not destroyed in the war. That's why she has it listed as a historical monument. An undertaking of which she is initially unaware. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom, external blinds to block the morning sun - not allowed. But Viola is not discouraged. Her bed is built on a wooden platform and the view over the city is no problem. And instead of blinds, there are now thick curtains. The conversion takes a year and a half. The 62-year-old hired companies and craftsmen from Pforzheim. She herself lends a hand. She brings coffee, lays samples for the tiles and helps dig out the garden pond. She helps wherever she can. Parallel to the building site, she had to continue working in her studio, which at the time was still in a factory building. To earn money for the house, as she says. The largest item in the renovation is the roof at 120,000 euros, including the plain tiles - also a requirement of the heritage office. Little by little, the house becomes Viola's dream home. Each room is given its own color. Viola was inspired by the colors of her childhood in Spain. The entrance area shines in bright blue, she chose different shades of green for the living and dining area and the kitchen is yellow. Colored walls embrace people, says Viola. You should just be brave and try things out. The trained jewelry designer benefits from her very good imagination. This also helped her when designing the garden. The huge area around the detached house looked like wasteland, she remembers. She had 40 trees planted. Fruit trees, chestnuts, a large weeping willow. It was important to her to plant old varieties. Trees that already existed in 1911. The Pforzheim native now has 320 square meters at her disposal for work, exhibitions and living. “Others have company premises, I have everything under one roof,” says Viola Noske. The large studio is located on the first floor. This is where she creates her paintings and works of art, which she sells to finance her home. And that's how her whole house is designed. Collector's items from flea markets next to design objects, art from Sotheby's next to IKEA furnishings. Villa Viola is a total work of art that combines everything that the artist herself loves!
