HS2 M6 Viaducts to Birmingham Interchange: Huge Progress from Above
Exclusive drone flight following the HS2 Birmingham corridor. Captured with full authorization for restricted airspace near Birmingham Airport. This drone flight follows the HS2 route from the M6 South and North Viaducts towards Birmingham Interchange Station, showing major construction progress across this important section of the HS2 network. The video starts at the M6 South and North Viaducts, where the linked structures are now getting closer to becoming continuous viaducts in both directions. At the M6 South Viaduct, concrete deck installation is now visible on top of the structure, marking another important stage in the build. From there, the route continues along the HS2 alignment over Pool Wood Embankment, a 1079 m long embankment forming part of the approach towards the Birmingham Interchange area. The flight then crosses the M42, giving a look at the ongoing works around the M42 box structure near Birmingham Business Park and Solihull. This structure will be covered in more detail in a future video. The final part of the video heads south-east towards Birmingham Interchange Station, one of the key hubs of the HS2 network. The last section focuses on the station site itself, showing visible progress across the area, including the A45 Coventry Road bridge, which is now almost complete. This is the bridge where HS2 will pass under the A45. This route gives a clear aerial view of how the M6 viaducts, Pool Wood Embankment, M42 crossing works, and Birmingham Interchange Station are beginning to connect into one major HS2 corridor. Drone flight disclaimer: Permission was requested and granted for this flight within the HS2 corridor where it passes through the Birmingham Airport Flight Restriction Zone / exclusion zone. The flight was carried out in accordance with the approved conditions and UK drone rules.
