The latest archaeological discoveries at the Volterra Amphitheater have focused primarily on excavating the first section of the underground tunnel, descending to within nine meters of ground level. Future excavations will continue toward other areas already identified, both toward the center of the arena and toward the hill. Some artifacts, including a rare and valuable Etruscan aes grave, have emerged from the material carried by floodwaters into the tunnel.
