On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM, a meeting with Katarzyna Harmata and Marcin Wilk took place at the Abecadło Antiquarian Bookstore. 🙂 The starting point for the conversation are two books that explore the extraordinary relationship between humans and dogs – from different perspectives, but with a similar sensitivity to emotions, communication, and everyday coexistence. 🙂 Katarzyna Harmata's "How to Talk to a Dog?" is a warm and informative story for both young and old. Nine-year-old Zosia takes readers into the world of dogs' emotions, gestures, and behaviors. The book teaches empathy, responsibility, and a better understanding of dogs, answering questions such as how to read dogs' signals, what mistakes to avoid when interacting with a dog, and whether dogs can work. 🙂 "A Better Species: Dog-Human Stories" by Marcin Wilk is an essayistic and historical account of the relationship between humans and dogs—a relationship that evolves with culture, science, and society. The author examines, among other things, the birth of "dog modernism," changes in animal perception, and the contemporary "humanization" of dogs. This is a book about dogs, but also about ourselves and how we build relationships with other species. During the meeting, we will discuss: dog communication and emotions, dogs in culture, history and everyday life, contemporary human-animal relationships, and whether we can truly talk to dogs. We are interested in vintage books, publications, posters, playbills, fairy tales in good condition, comics, prints, postcards published before 1950, photographs, maps, ephemera, documents, and even undamaged and unscratched vinyl records featuring jazz and rock music. We are interested in both single copies of books and entire collections. For larger collections, we offer on-site delivery in Krakow and the surrounding area.
