Walking in Shimonita, Kanragun Shimonitamachi, Gunma. About 1 hour from Takasaki Station by Jyoshin Electric Railway. Shimonita is located in a basin surrounded by mountains. Shimonita-michi, which was a side road of Nakasendo, developed as a cargo transfer point between Jyoshu and Shinshu. In the Edo period, a market was set up in the center of the town, where wholesale stores gathered. The Median Tectonic Line runs through the town from east to west, and its characteristic topography and geological formations from various periods can be seen.
