How to read the Qur’an properly to understand the hikmah of the hijab verse

#HijabInIslam #QuranReflection #ModestyInIslam Assalamu alaykum In this video, we explore how to read the Qur’an in a way that nurtures understanding, reflection, and inner clarity—especially when it comes to the hikmah (wisdom) behind the ‘hijab’ verse. This reminder is for all believing women seeking a deeper, more grounded connection with modesty beyond surface-level rules. We focus on three key ideas. First, how to approach the Qur’an through its core principles and values. Using the metaphor of a tree, we’ll understand how strong roots and a firm trunk support the branches—helping us read verses in a way that aligns with the Qur’an’s broader message of falah (salvation). Second, we look at Surah Al-Noor verse 31 within its wider context. This surah begins by addressing zina (adultery), contrasting darkness and light, and warning against the subtle pull of Shaytan. Modesty—lowering the gaze, guarding one’s private parts, and dressing with dignity—is presented as part of a holistic path away from indecency and towards spiritual purification. Finally, we address a common struggle faced by Muslim women: getting lost in overly detailed, prescriptive rulings about dress. Questions around concepts like “zeenah” can become overwhelming. This video offers a framework to stay grounded and avoid unnecessary anxiety. Make sure to watch until the end, where I share an important reflection on managing anxiety around modesty and dress codes with balance and trust in Allah. May this be a source of benefit and ease, inshaAllah. Note: Please note my error in pronouncing ‘ma zahara minha’ as ‘man zahara minha’. I always trip up on this one. My apologies.
