YAMAP: https://yamap.com/activities/44811551 Journey Details: Park your car in the parking lot of Karasawayama Pocket Park, pass the entrance to Tsuyutarine Shrine, and proceed to the trailhead located on the north side. The trail begins with a gentle climb, perfect for warming up your legs. The trail begins through a tranquil forest, gradually gaining altitude. Along the way, you'll come across a small fork in the trail; here, go around to the left. The trail eventually merges with the trail from the direction of Plum Grove Park. This route is recommended during plum blossom season. From here, the trail continues in relatively quiet conditions. Soon, you'll reach another fork and head toward Karasawayama Shrine. There's a bench just below the summit, making it a perfect place to catch your breath before the summit. At the fork, take the steep stairs on the right for a shortcut to the summit. Climbing the stairs will take you to the top of Karasawayama. The grounds are spacious, and there are few people around in the morning. A tense atmosphere hangs in the air, and time passes quietly. To the south lies the vast Kanto Plain, and on a clear day, Mount Fuji can even be seen. To the west, Mount Asama stands majestically, and you can even spot the cats unique to Karasawayama Shrine sunbathing within the grounds. Leaving the summit behind, we descend the stairs toward Tengu Rock. Following the signs, we soon come across Oi Well. The autumn leaves are reflected in the water, and the sight of carp swimming peacefully among them is a striking sight. Continuing on, we arrive at the Tengu Rock entrance, and after climbing the rocks, a panoramic view opens up. Below us lies the city of Sano, with Mount Fuji also visible from here. Moving north, Mount Akagi and the Nikko Mountain Range come into view, offering a panoramic view of these famous peaks. Descending Tengu Rock, we return to the original route and head toward the Kagami Rock hiking trail. After passing through the forest road and Kagami Rock, we begin a gentle climb. The trees have lost their leaves, offering excellent views of the surrounding scenery. Along the way, there are clear spots offering views of Mt. Karasawa and Mount Tsukuba in the distance. Returning to the hiking trail and heading south, you'll come to a fork in the road, with the Makimichi (beginner's trail) and the Miharashigoya trail. Heading right will take you to Gongendo, where tables and benches are provided, making it a good place to rest. The trail continues to fork, and you can choose the route to Mt. Iimoriyama or Mt. Okazakiyama. After completing the Kagamiiwa hiking trail, you'll briefly come to a paved road. Turn right at the entrance and head toward Mt. Asama (Asama Shrine). After about 10 minutes, you'll reach the trailhead for Mt. Asama. The climb begins with a gentle slope covered in fallen leaves, eventually leading to a steep staircase just below the summit. At the top of the stairs, you'll be rewarded with an unobstructed 360-degree view. With a panoramic view of the surrounding Karasawayama area, this is truly a worthy culmination of your mountaineering adventure. To descend, retrace your steps and follow the Kagamiiwa Hiking Trail to the second parking lot. From there, head down towards Tsuyutarine Shrine. Signs are in place at key points, so there's little risk of getting lost. Although it's a low mountain, it's a circular trail rich in views and variety, allowing you to enjoy a tranquil hike. It becomes even more alluring during the autumn foliage season.
