A Snowy Drive over Million Dollar Highway: Red Mountain Pass, Ouray to Silverton

It follows US Highway 550, the Million Dollar Highway, south, over Red Mountain Pass to Silverton, then returns via the same route. At first I was disappointed that it was raining in Ouray and Silverton, but the weather was actually quite amazing. Clouds hung low over the mountain peaks, creating a foreboding mood amongst the fall colors in early October. At the pass, above 11,000 feet, it was pouring the snow, creating a beautiful scene. You'll have to put up with my wiper blades, but I hope you can enjoy the beauty of this drive, on a not-so-perfect day.
