Kesaksian Jenderal Witono Soal Penyergapan dan Tewasnya Dul Arief
General Witono's Testimony Regarding the Ambush and Death of Dul Arief There is an interesting article reviewed on Facebook based on the testimony of Lieutenant General Witono, former Commander of the Siliwangi Military Command. Witono was serving as Danrem in Cirebon City when the G30S PKI incident erupted. He was the one who received Lieutenant Colonel Untung Syamsuri who was handed over by Captain Muhammad Isa, Commander of the Tegal CPM after the former Commander of the G30S PKI and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council was caught in Tegal. Witono was also the one who then brought Lieutenant Colonel Untung to Bandung, to the Siliwangi Military Command Headquarters. Then with tight security he was taken to Jakarta and handed over to Kostrad. In his testimony, Witono revealed that before the capture of former Lieutenant Colonel Untung on October 11, 1965, there had been many events in Cirebon related to the "September 30 Movement". At that time, the TNI troops in Cirebon could be said to be empty because many were deployed to the Malaysian border in the context of the confrontation with Malaysia. But with a limited number of troops, the TNI troops in Cirebon managed to capture and disarm the Pasopati troops supporting the G30S PKI who fled to Cirebon by train. At that time, Colonel Witono ordered that the former Pasopati troops not continue their journey. But they did not obey Colonel Witono's order. They chose to leave the train that Witono ordered not to continue the journey with the threat of being destroyed because it would hit the mines that had been installed. First Lieutenant Dul Arief and Djahurup, the leaders of the former Pasopati troops, were with the troops who tried to escape. The pursuit was carried out by involving RPKAD troops, KKO Army infantry troops and also assisted by people's labor. Finally, the two leaders of the Pasopati troops, namely Dul Arief and Djahurup, along with several of their men, were ambushed in the Salem area or precisely in the Bantarkawung area of Cilacap Regency. Dul Arief was ambushed by RPKAD troops and other TNI troops, including KKO. At that time, the total number of escape troops was approximately one hundred and eighty people. There was a gunfight. But finally, they were paralyzed. Dul Arief and Djahurup were reported dead. As is known, the fate of Dul Arief is still a mystery. It is possible that he was executed because he was ambushed in a military operation. Information about the ambush of Dul Arief was also mentioned by General Widodo, the former Commander of the Diponegoro Military Command who later became the Chief of Staff of the Army in the Soeharto era. When the G30S PKI erupted, Widodo, who was still a Colonel at that time, was one of the Assistants at the Diponegoro Military Command. At that time, the Commander of the Diponegoro Military Command was Brigadier General Suryosumpeno. After the Diponegoro Military Command headquarters, which was previously controlled by officers supporting the G30S PKI, was retaken by the Commander of the Diponegoro Military Command, efforts were made to consolidate the troops. Colonel Widodo was appointed by the Commander of the Diponegoro Military Command as the temporary Danrem 072 Yogyakarta to replace Colonel Katamso whose fate was unknown at that time after being kidnapped along with the Chief of Staff of the 072 Military Command, Lieutenant Colonel Sugiono. In the book, "History of the Indonesian Army Kodam VII/Diponegoro Sirnaning Yakso Katon Gapuraning Ratu," compiled by the Military History section of Kodam Diponegoro, General Widodo briefly touched on the ambush of Dul Arief and his men. According to General Widodo's statement, before former First Lieutenant Dul Arief and his men were ambushed, intelligence information had already come in. The intelligence information stated that former First Lieutenant Dul Arief, the Commander of the Pasopati G30S PKI troops, along with 40 other people, were known to be roaming the forests of the Pemalang area. They were hiding in the forest from the pursuit of the army after successfully escaping secretly in Cirebon. These rebel troops were apparently looking for a gap to escape to the slopes of Mount Merapi and Merbabu. After the intelligence information was confirmed to be true, the joint forces were immediately ordered to move to ambush former First Lieutenant Dul Arief and his men. The ambush on the rebel troops was carried out on December 5, 1966. The ambush troops quoted General Widodo's statement as published in the book History of the Diponegoro Military Command consisting of battalion "B" or Battalion 402, RPKAD and troops from KKO. In this ambush, Dul Arief was reportedly killed. Also, Djahurup, his subordinate in Cakrabirawa. Also reportedly killed.
