Our Club Chairman Was “Abducted”… We Had to Track Him Down with Radios

What do you do when your club chairman is “abducted” on the way to the bank with the club funds? Simple! Grab some directional antennas and go hunting. In this video I join the Verulam Amateur Radio Club (VARC) for a fox hunt with a crazy storyline: Matt, our chairman, has been intercepted while transporting money from the DDRC rally and is now being held hostage somewhere unknown. Our mission? Track him down, rescue him, and recover the club funds. The catch? The “kidnapper” only transmitted for 30 seconds every 5 minutes using just 1 watt of power, meaning we had to use directional Yagi antennas and radio direction finding to locate the signal. Great fun, great company, and a brilliant reminder that amateur radio can be far more than sitting behind a desk talking into a microphone. 🎙️ Radio: Baofeng UV5R 📡 Power: N/A 🪫 Setup: Handheld Yagi antennas 📍 Location: Verulam Amateur Radio Club (VARC), UK 👉 Subscribe for more approachable amateur radio adventures!
