Linzer Torte, of Austrian origin, is considered the oldest known tart in the world. Linzer Torte, with a lattice pastry lid, uses a very crispy pastry and ground nuts, usually hazelnuts or almonds, or both. It's traditionally filled with currant or raspberry jam, although today I'm going to fill it with cherries, which we prefer at home.
