Full On Signalling Demonstration at North Yorkshire Moors Railway Inside the Big Grosmont Signalbox

This is a video filmed inside Grosmont Signalbox on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway during the 2025 Diesel Gala. Grosmont has the biggest signlbox on the line, with 51 levers and was built by the NYMR in 1996. During my visit, it was a busy hour because the dining train arrived and needed to be shunted around the station after the passengers had alighted. There were other various shunt moves. Lots of radio messages, telephone calls, token exchanging and road traffic to be dealt with. So you can see how busy the job can get just with setting up the routes. Imagine it on the mainline during problems and disruption, where there's phones ringing, radios constantly trying to pass on messages and staff wanting updates. It can get quite hectic!
