'We're Not Part Of Pakistan': Biggest PoK Uprising as Protesters Reject Islamabad's Rule

Thousands of protesters gathered in Rawalakot in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK), delivering one of the strongest public challenges yet to Islamabad's authority. Demonstrators declared that "POK is not part of Pakistan" and accused the Pakistani government of decades of political neglect, economic exploitation and administrative repression. The protest, led by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), comes amid growing unrest over soaring inflation, rising electricity prices, food shortages, unemployment and allegations that authorities blocked the movement of essential supplies into parts of the region. Protest leaders also warned that if Islamabad continues to ignore their demands, people may be forced to consider "other roads," a remark widely interpreted as signalling a major political shift. Pakistan has responded by banning JAAC under anti-terrorism laws and initiating legal action against several activists, while internet restrictions in parts of POK have raised concerns over access to information.
