50代共働き妻|80代の母が作ってくれた夕飯,親孝行,母との関係,適切な距離感
I'm a working wife in my 50s. My mother, in her 80s, cooks dinner for my husband and me once a month. Nine years ago, my mother suffered a brain disease that left her with a disability. She has now recovered to the point where she can cook. However, I thought it must be difficult for her to cook for my husband and me as well, so I told her, "Mom, it's too much work, you don't have to cook for us." Even so, my mother still cooks dinner for us. This is probably, just perhaps, one of her "reasons for living and fulfilling"... And now I think that simply accepting the love that one's parents offer is also a form of filial piety. When you think of filial piety for a daughter in her 50s, you might think of taking your parents on a trip or giving them pocket money from time to time—giving them something. I was always thinking about that, but To my parents, I'll always be their child. Perhaps age doesn't matter when it comes to wanting to do something for your child. We don't have children, so we can't experience what it's like to be a parent, but from a child's perspective, No matter how old you are, a parent's love is always a comforting feeling. That being said, the relationship between mother and daughter as we aged wasn't always smooth sailing. I wanted my mother to become the ideal mother I envisioned... there was a time when I tried to control her. Of course, it didn't work out. Through repeated failures, I finally realized something. It means that even though we are parent and child, we are separate individuals with our own lives. My mother's life is hers. My life is mine. Since I started drawing clear boundaries, my relationship with my mother has gradually begun to change. Things are still not 100% perfect, but I feel that this is the best it's ever been. There's no need to carry the burden of your parent's life to the point of wearing yourself down. However, I want to think about how I want to spend the rest of my life with my mother. I intend to cherish the time I spend with my mother while confronting my own emotions.
