Poulter Hut Overnight Hike - Arthur’s Pass National Park

Starting from Andrews Shelter near the Mt White bridge, Arthurs Pass National Park. Follow the Andrews Valley Track through Hallelujah Flat, then cross Casey Saddle before a final climb and descent into the Poulter River Valley. Once in the valley, turn left at the sign and head further up the valley passing Trust/Poulter Hut, before crossing the Poulter River to reach Poulter Hut. It is 24.5 km from the shelter to Poulter Hut, the Poulter River crossing is not marked and you need to find your own way, on this trip the river had gone under ground, but this is a big river valley and rain can affect the river level at any time of the year. Poulter Hut has 10 bunks over two platforms, a log burner, cooking bench, water from tank outside the hut and a long drop a short walk away.
