Another land vehicle developed by the Turkish defense industry is entering the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) inventory. Koluman Otomotiv Endüstri AŞ, which has been providing solutions such as shelter equipment, transport, loading, maintenance and repair vehicles, and special systems for military projects with Mercedes trucks for many years, began developing the 8x8 armored logistics support vehicles under the Derman brand in 2016. The company unveiled its first prototype at IDEF 2019 and exhibited this vehicle with container handling and transport equipment at IDEF 2021. The second-generation prototype of the Derman 8x8, designed as a tank transporter, was also showcased for the first time at the fair. The container handling vehicle, built on the first prototype, will enable soldiers to transport critical goods without risking damage, especially in combat zones. The second prototype, the tank transporter, will be able to carry 70-ton tanks, including the Altay tank. Koluman also won its first tender for the Derman 8x8. In this context, a contract was signed for 65 Dermans to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). The vehicles will begin entering the inventory in 2022.
